Winter in the Oasis

Happy New Year! Welcome 2026!

What a year 2025 has been! In addition to everyone’s own personal stories, there has been so many events nationally and globally that have impacted us all in some way. In the midst of so many events out of our control, did you witness or offer any acts of kindness to someone else or to yourself? One simple act can make a big difference in taking back some sense of control and a reminder that there is still goodness right around the corner.

At this time of year, it is not unusual for many of us to feel depleted. When you contrast this with society’s focus on resolutions and “to do’s”, you may feel like you are not measuring up. I’m sharing this inspiration from srwpoetry on Instagram in the hopes that it helps you as well.

“This January, if you feel low and heavy and unready – please remember that in nature, the new year begins in spring. January is not nature’s reset. March is. In a few month’s time, temperatures will rise and the days will be long enough to actually do things. Nature is still unwinding. It’s ok if you are too.”

Easing into January

The new calendar year begins in deep winter. With less light and warmth, it’s natural to crave more rest and have less energy. Our bodies may naturally crave more stillness and reflection. It’s called wintering.

Wellness Tip

The Danish people have a term called hygge, which loosely translates to cozy living. In winter, they light
candles, focus on harmony, nourishing food, comfort, togetherness and gratitude.
